The Fascinations “Hold On” (Mayfield 7718, 1968)
The Fascinations were actually the 2nd Girl Group Martha Reeves joined, but when she couldn’t see eye to eye with the others she departed in 1960. When Martha rejoined the Del-Phis the Fascinations signed to ABC Paramount and became acquainted with Curtis Mayfield, an association that would last their full career.
By 1967 they reformed after working various day jobs, and had a R&B hit with “Girls Are Out To Get You” in the spring, which lead to them recording a host of singles for Curtis’s self named label, that, despite efforts like this tent burning testifier, didn’t not continue the success of their first post hiatus single.
